Assignment: Vertical expansion of garage
Type of Assignment: Design/build
Capacity: 355 cars
Value: $2 Million
Date of Completion: Summer 2007
Project Description: This assignment entailed the addition of a steel post-tensioned parking level to an existing precast parking structure at Ruby Memorial Hospital. The additional level added 105 cars to the garage’s capacity, and required extensive strengthening of the existing structure to support the incremental load. Once the structure of the precast garage was augmented with support members tied in to the original grade beams, the steel components were added to create the new parking level. All steel surfaces were sheathed in precast covers to visually integrate the newly constructed level with the existing structure. The garage was kept open during construction activities to support the needs of the hospital.
