Charleston Area Medical Center

Carl Walker Construction, Inc. was awarded the full repair project for the Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) Memorial Employee parking garage in 2015. The project consisted of a 5-year plan that would address all repair and preventative work items on at least one parking level annually. CWC provided very competitive pricing that allowed the owner to complete the project for significantly less than the original budget. Walker Parking Associates out of Philadelphia were hired by CAMC to prepare the structural and architectural documents, and to lend oversight throughout construction.

The Memorial parking garage consists of both pre-cast and cast-in-place elements. The unique design of the structure required a contractor with a great deal of expertise and experience in order to safely complete all of the necessary repairs. The full scope of work included multiple aspects of parking garage restoration including: full and partial depth floor repairs, pre-tensioned cable repairs, column and girder repairs, caulking, deck coating, and painting of concrete elements. The success of the project led to great relationships with both owner and designer. Future projects with the same team are currently in discussion.
