Carl Walker Construction is currently working on the following two large-scale casino development projects in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Sands BethWorks Casino
In Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Carl Walker Construction is constructing a 40 million structural cast-in-place concrete post-tensioning deck at the Beth Sands Casino. The new parking structure will provide approximately 3200 parking spaces on seven levels. A total of 1,200,000 square feet of supported area will be constructed on land formerly occupied by the historic Bethlehem Steel Works.
Comprised of 9.5 million pounds of steel, the frame of the garage will be galvanized for corrosion protection. The structure supporting the concrete decks will consist of castellated beams – hybrid girders that offer superior load bearing qualities while minimizing the amount of steel needed per linear foot. In addition to parking for automobiles, the facility will incorporate specialized lighting and ventilation systems to support an intermodal transportation area on its first level. The intermodal facility will be used to accommodate tour and commuter busses.

Majestic Star Casino
Carl Walker Construction is working closely with the construction team for Barden Development, Inc. on waterproofing strategies that will be used to construct the parking garage of the new Majestic Star Casino in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The development is sited on the banks of the Ohio River, and requires comprehensive waterproofing strategies to address the challenges posed by a high water table. Carl Walker Construction will install the waterproofing system for the garage, which will be linked to the casino. The firm will also be responsible for all finished concrete work as related to the parking facility only.
Meadows Racetrack & Casino
Carl Walker Construction has been contracted to build $13.6 million, five-story, 1,000-car parking garage at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino in Washington, Pennsylvania. The new 327,000 square-foot garage is a design/build assignment. It will incorporate a pre-stressed, precast concrete frame and cast-in-place deck surfaces. The new garage will join the casino at a shared column line, and will feature a firewall separating the two structures.
Millennium Gaming, Inc owns the Meadows Racetrack and Casino. CWC will be working closely with LP Ciminelli, of Buffalo, New York, the construction manager on the project. The garage is scheduled for completion in May of 2009.
